What You Might Not Know About Vitamin D

Do you know the difference between D2 and D3? D2 is absorbed thru the skin and is actually a hormone where D3 is a vitamin synthesized by man. In just 10 minutes baring your arms and face to the sun, you can absorb all the D2 you require each day.

New Beginnings for Spring

We may be in the middle of winter but it time to get ready for new beginnings. Winter time will come to a close soon and for me…not soon enough. My favorite times of year are spring and fall. I know we need winter so the plants and trees can regroup and the summer is for crops to get ready for harvest. But, I love to watch everything come into bloom in the spring and then watch all the colors turn in the fall.

Right now most everything is dormant and I have a tendency of feeling stagnant. I usually try to take a break and then start thinking of what I want to do for the coming year. I always have lots of ideas and not all of them get done but it gives me something to strive for. I believe in reaching beyond my goals but keeping a few reasonable ones in view. Trying to only strive for what I know I can do puts a limit on myself that I don’t find acceptable. There is nothing like reaching a goal and/or going beyond it. It is an unbelievable feeling and one I like to achieve as much as possible.

One of my goals this year is to get one of my books published. I haven’t decided which one but I have been trying for years to come up with the money and something always happens. I need to look past this and do whatever I can to get it done. I feel an urgent urgency for this to happen this year. I am looking forward to see it blossom and help those it is intended for. This may be winter but I am looking forward for spring to hit this year.

Why are you so special?

People have asked me if I thought I was special. Yes, I do. I am special, just like everyone else is. We are each, in our own way, very special. We each have something inside of us that is unique. I went out on a date one night and the chemistry wasn’t there but he said I made him see things in a different way. He said I looked at things differently than most folks. I took that as a compliment because I have never wanted to be just like someone else.

It doesn’t matter who you are, you have a gift. It is this gift that makes our world unique. It can be that you can make paper clips into something no one else would have thought of. It might be that you can teach others and get them to understand math. It could be your healing touch, listening to friends when they need it the most, or as simple as making someone smile.

You might say that making someone smile can’t change anything, but it can. I learned that lesson long ago when I met a man at work one night. After I had known him for about six months he told me about the night we met. He was going to spend the last of his money on a slot machine and then kill himself. He said he thought he had a bad life and nothing could change it. He went on to tell me about how I smiled at him and asked if there was anything I could help with. After talking he found out that I was living in a homeless shelter for families, working full time, going to college and raising my three children by myself. And was still smiling. He made a new decision and went back to his wife and kids.

You never know what you might do that will change yours or someone else’s life. Just keep smiling because you are special.
